Quality Assurance & Accreditation (QAA)

Our commitment to quality education, assessed against the standards of the University Grants Commission, Nepal.

Quality Assurance and Accreditation at a Glance

Quality Assurance and Accreditation (QAA) is the national framework of the University Grants Commission, Nepal, under which higher education institutions review and improve their own performance. The framework looks at academic programmes, the teaching and learning system, governance and management, student support, physical infrastructure, and the transparency of institutional information.

Pathivara Multiple Campus has committed itself to this framework as a way of measuring what we do well, identifying where we fall short, and improving year on year for the students of Taplejung and the wider Koshi Province.

Adoption of the QAA Framework

The campus has formally adopted the QAA framework through a decision of the Campus Management Committee. Adoption covers four commitments:

  • Establishing internal quality mechanisms, led by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).
  • Preparing academic plans and calendars in advance of each session and following them.
  • Implementing the policies of Tribhuvan University and the University Grants Commission in day-to-day practice.
  • Reporting institutional performance honestly, both internally and to the regulator.

Role of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell coordinates all quality-related work on campus. It monitors whether adopted policies are actually being followed, maintains the evidence and documentation the accreditation process requires, and reports its findings to the Campus Chief and the Management Committee.

Details of the cell, its objectives and its members are published on the IQAC page.

Our Quality Practices

Quality assurance at the campus is carried out through regular, documented practices rather than one-off exercises:

  • Academic planning — an academic calendar and subject-wise teaching plan for every session.
  • Internal assessment — periodic internal examinations, assignments and result analysis for every programme.
  • Process review — review of admission, examination and record-keeping procedures at the end of each session.
  • Student support — academic counselling, scholarship and quota administration, and library and ICT services.
  • Grievance handling — a defined route for students and staff to raise concerns and have them addressed.

Documentation and Transparency

The campus maintains and publishes the documents that describe how it is governed and how it performs, including the campus statute, the annual report, the academic calendar, the examination framework, the code of conduct, and the scholarship and financial support policy.

These documents are made available to students, staff, the Management Committee and the regulator. Files are attached to this page as they are approved.

Current Focus Areas

The present priorities of the quality assurance process are:

  • Putting approved policies fully into practice across all programmes.
  • Building the capacity of faculty and administrative staff through training and orientation.
  • Improving data management so that decisions rest on accurate records.
  • Widening the participation of students, alumni, guardians and the community in campus review.

Governing Documents and Authority

Quality assurance activity at the campus is guided by the campus statute, the guidelines and minimum standards of the University Grants Commission, the rules and curriculum of Tribhuvan University, the internal policies approved by the Campus Management Committee, and the working framework of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell.
